Italy’s second city is one of the underrated of Europe and often lost in the shadows of Rome, Venice and Florence. Being under-touristed has its advantages: Milan is more authentic. It’s filled with real Milanese just click-clacking off to work in their designer shoes along beautiful stone streets going about their day-to-day business and not full of camera-toting visitors. The men are fashionable and attractive. Moreover its churches, fashion, historic art, canals, and cuisine (plus its proximity to Lake Como) provide ample reason to see Milan as a great world city. Come Spring, it will host the 2015 Expo.
