Our road trip through wine country kicked off today with a coastal ride through stunning Carmel, California, an exquisite small town of just under 4,000 people. From here we will drive up to Healdsburg in Sonoma, through gay-friendly Guerneville and southeast to St. Helena and Yountville. Check back for more photos and recommendations.

From The Vineyard to La Ville Lumière
Gary Saperstein goes by a few monikers these days: wine expert, radio show host, Sonoma man-about-town, and founder of Out In The Vineyard, to name a few. To us, he’s friend and correspondent, and he recently spent a few days touring around Paris with a dear friend, the head chef at Sonoma’s famous The Girl and the Fig.Continue reading “From The Vineyard to La Ville Lumière”

So You Want To Go Cuba? 6 Gay Ways To Get There
Thanks to President Obama’s recent initiative to thaw relations with our geographically near (yet ideologically distant) neighbor, it’s a little easier to go but restrictions remain in place, specifically with respect to pure leisure tourism — it’s still not legal for Americans, who must travel under a general or specific (i.e., an application and a case-by-caseContinue reading “So You Want To Go Cuba? 6 Gay Ways To Get There”

And the Best Boutique Hotel In St. Pete Is…
The Birchwood is the best hotel in St. Pete and our first choice when staying downtown. It has just 18 rooms, all of them spacious and tastefully designed with claw-footed tubs. No frills here: no gym, no pool, but a first-rate restaurant in the lobby — Birch & Vine — and a weekend hotspot of a rooftop barContinue reading “And the Best Boutique Hotel In St. Pete Is…”

Meet Florida’s Other Half
This month, we hit the road, up and down Florida’s west coast, intent on solving one of the great travel mysteries of our time: if the Gulf Coast of Florida is still in the shadow of Miami, then how the hell is it so sunny? It’s a good question and one we were determined toContinue reading “Meet Florida’s Other Half”
