From our global correspondent Steve Roth who is also a co-founder of Alturi, check out a fun gay party that will also support some worthy causes. The party is co-sponsored by GAYography which is the brainchild of another of our global correspondents, Ashton Giese.
On Wednesday, April 22, the fast-growing LGBT travel weekly news-update, GAYography brief will host an event to introduce Alturi, a new online platform that enables people to take a stand against the violence and oppression facing the international LGBT community. The event, taking place at Therapy, will also be a kickoff for EuroPride 2015 Riga and will feature great travel-related raffle prizes, two-for-one drink specials and music by VJ ohRicky, who will spin EuroVision hits all evening.
“While the LGBT community continues to make remarkable gains here in the U.S., there’s still so much that we can do to help improve the lives of LGBT people around the world,” said Steve Roth, Director of Alturi. “When LGBT people travel – particularly to events like Prague Pride and EuroPride in Riga, we have the opportunity to build bridges, tear down barriers and promote understanding. And now our new platform Alturi provides a new way to learn about and support our LGBT brothers and sisters fighting discrimination and oppression around the world.”
Alturi will provide information about LGBT communities around the world and engage users to provide support to these groups. Founder of the GAYography brief, Ashton Giese wanted to feature this exciting new platform to his readers and the New York travel community – while supporting LGBT groups abroad through the International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) and EuroPride 2015 Riga.
“It’s my goal to build a space within the LGBT community to connect LGBT travelers to activists in their efforts to advance equality and work towards the day when all travelers can venture abroad without fear of being who they are,” stated Giese, “If you travel abroad you have an interest in helping to ensure the cultures and communities you visit accept and honor the rights of LGBT individuals – both within such communities as well as outside.”
Attendees will have the chance to win a host of great prizes valued at over $2,000, including VIP event packages for EuroPride 2015 Riga and Prague Pride, full access to HebroTravel parties, a Therapy Bar gift certificate, a year pass to The Men Event speed dating, two tickets to the best seats at IGLHRC’s outing to see Fun Home and subscriptions to ManAboutWorld. Raffle proceeds will benefit IGLHRC and EuroPride 2015 Riga.
The event will take place on Wednesday, April 22nd from 6 to 9pm at Therapy restaurant and bar, 348 West 52nd Street. Raffle tickets are $5 and prizes will be raffled off midway through the evening.
